WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed defensive back Brandon Stewart to a contract extension Thursday.
Stewart, 24, played in every game last year for the Blue Bombers. He recorded 27 tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery.
"Brandon is a young player with a lot of upside," general manager Joe Mack said in a release. "He showed a lot of progression last year and we’ll be looking for him to take that next step and be a key contributor on defence next season."
Stewart, a six-foot-one 193-pound Seattle native, also had eight tackles on special teams last year.
"Winnipeg is a great place to play football and it’s nice to feel wanted," Stewart said. "I’m hoping to be able to keep improving my game so that I can personally help this team win a Grey Cup."
