MONTREAL — O.J. Santiago will have to wait to make his CFL debut.
The former NFL tight end, making a comeback with the Montreal Alouettes, was placed on the one-game injured list Thursday by the CFL club as it made its final cuts to reach the 46-man roster limit.
The six-foot-seven, 265-pound native of Whitby, Ont., who played in the 1998 Super Bowl with Atlanta, signed in the off-season with Montreal after being out of football since his release by the NFL’s Oakland Raiders prior to the 2007 season. Coming to the Als reunited the 36-year-old with head coach Marc Trestman, who was Oakland’s offensive co-ordinator at the time.
Montreal also placed fullback Dahrran Diedrick, a Toronto native, on the one-game injured list, along with tackle Skip Seagraves and defensive end Nickolas Morin-Soucy.
The Alouettes also put backup quarterback Adrian McPherson and guard Ryan Bomben on the nine-game injured list.
A total of nine players were released by the Alouettes, including receiver D.J. Boldin, the younger brother of Baltimore Ravens star receiver Anquan Boldin.
