The Montreal Alouettes bolstered their defence Tuesday by signing standout defensive tackle Aaron Hunt. The team also announced the signings of linebacker Mark Restelli and defensive lineman Alan-Michael Cash.
Hunt had spent his entire six-year CFL career with the B.C. Lions, but became an unrestricted free agent last week. The 31-year-old had seven sacks, 29 defensive tackles in 17 games with the Lions last season and was named a CFL All-Star for the second time in his career.
The 6’3, 280-pound Texas Tech University alumnus had 170 tackles and 41 sacks in his six years with the Lions.
Restelli spent three seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos and last year attended the Miami Dolphins training camp, playing in all four pre-season games as a safety before returning to the Eskimos. The 25-year-old is the second Eskimos linebacker to join the Alouettes in the past week as Rod Davis signed with the club last Friday.
Cash attended the Alouettes training camp last season, but couldn’t crack the roster. The 6’2, 292-pound 24-year-old registered 149 tackles and nine sacks in his four-year college career at North Carolina State.
All three import players have signed two-year deals with the club.
