Heading into the 14th week of the CFL season, the once-undefeated Edmonton Eskimos have lost five straight while the Montreal Alouettes are reeling after their front office shakeup.
Here’s how the league’s nine teams stack up based on recent form.

The Stampeders have won eight straight this season and 16 in a row at home dating back to Oct. 10, 2015. More importantly, they’ve won 15 straight against their West Division foes. The West is going to go through Calgary and thus far nobody seems up for the challenge. |

The Bombers actually moved up the standings during their bye week. Winnipeg is the only team within striking distance of the Stamps, who currently hold the best record in the league. |

Canadian quarterback Brandon Bridge got his shot due to Kevin Glenn’s bruised hand and made the most of it by throwing three touchdowns and no interceptions. Bridge became the first Canadian quarterback to win a game in the last 32 years. Saskatchewan lost 10 players to injury in its win over Hamilton. This could be a turning point for Saskatchewan, which won on the road with a young backup QB. It won’t get any easier as the injury-depleted Riders have the red-hot Stampeders up next on the schedule. |

Playing without J.C. Sherritt, Adarius Bowman, John White, Brandon Zylstra, Almondo Sewell and Marcus Howard, a loss was inevitable for the Eskimos. Even though they had their second-best start in franchise history, they haven’t left the pack chasing them a top the West. The Esks did get fat against a struggling East, as five of their seven wins came against the weaker division. Can Edmonton stay on top with 20 players on the IR now that its schedule begins to stiffen? |

The Jekyll and Hyde season for Jonathon Jennings continues as he followed his best game of the year with possibly his worst. Jennings passed for just 167 yards and was intercepted three times in a loss to Calgary. The difference is the Lions can no longer lean on Travis Lulay to bail them out as he is done for them this season. |

Did the Toronto Argonauts stumble into a running game? James Wilder Jr. was a revelation taking over for Brandon Whitaker by rushing for 190 yards on just 11 carries. Jonathan Himebauch’s addition as an offensive line coach paid immediate dividends as the Argos dominated the line of scrimmage. Toronto got its first win against the West and just the fifth for the entire East division in 26 attempts. |

Ottawa is half a game up on Toronto in the standings, but down two quarterbacks now that Drew Tate was hurt in his first start in relief of the injured Trevor Harris. The Redblacks’ remaining QB options are Ryan Lindley, Danny Collins and Will Arndt. Not ideal in a QB-driven league. 2017 record: 5-7-1 |

The Tiger-Cats improved their Canadian and offensive talent by trading for Shamawd Chambers. But the offensive acquisition the entire league is curious about is what they’ll do with Johnny Manziel. Now that Manziel’s agent has forced their hand, will they sign the controversial former star or trade his rights to a rival team? |

The Als fired head coach Jacques Chapdelaine and defensive co-ordinator Noel Thorpe looking for improved results. The team looked even worse without them. This is the third consecutive year the Alouettes have fired a coach midseason and put their GM on the sidelines. It hasn’t worked in that past and I’m not sure why they think it would work now. |
