EDMONTON — The Edmonton Eskimos signed former NFL linebacker Quinton Culberson on Thursday.

Culberson played 14 games in 2007 for the St. Louis Rams, posting 16 defensive tackles, 17 special teams tackles and one forced fumble.

The Mississippi native played another 17 games — 10 starts — with the Rams over the next two seasons before being released in September 2009. He signed with the Carolina Panthers later that year and played the final five games of the season primarily on special teams.

"His speed will be a great benefit on our bigger field, and Quinton clearly has the flexibility to start inside or outside, with the coaches determining the best spot for him during training camp," said Eskimo GM Eric Tillman. "He has also been an outstanding special teams player, so that versatility makes Quinton an ideal prospect for our league."
