Ti-Cats sign trio of defensive backs

HAMILTON, Ont. — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed import defensive backs Thad Turner, Marcus Walker and Justin Boddie, as well as non-import defensive lineman/long snapper Neil Puffer on Thursday.

Turner has spent time with the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals after four seasons at Ohio. In 46 games in college, the six-foot, 183-pound native of Marietta, Ga., registered 105 tackles, three interceptions and two tackles for a loss.

Walker made 101 tackles, three interceptions and 12 pass breakups in four seasons at Oklahoma, earning All-Big 12 second-team honours in 2006. The five-foot-11, 191-pound native of Waco, Texas, has previous pro experience with the NFL’s Carolina Panthers and Minnesota Vikings.

Boddie, a six-foot-two, 193-pound native of Atlanta, played four seasons at Central Florida, making 137 tackles, three interceptions and two forced fumbles.

The six-foot-four 220-pound Puffer attended training camp with the Edmonton Eskimos in 2010 following a five-year CIS career at Queen’s. The Timmins, Ont., native made 67 tackles and 11.5 quarterback sacks in 36 regular-season games with the Gaels.
