Another week, another game. We played a very good Calgary team and it came down to the wire.
This week was our first loss of the year. It was a really tough one considering we only lost by one point. But this is the sport; this is the game; just like in life, not everything always goes the way we want it to. But the importance lies in the attitude after a loss or a setback.
We had a long week of practice in preparation for the Toronto Argonauts, a team we have already beaten. But again, just like in life, nothing is ever given so the team will have to go get it. And to do so, we knew that we would need a good week of practice, which we did have.
The game will be played at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, my home city. Of all the games I’ve missed thus far, this one will definitely be the most painful one. I am missing the opportunity to play at home, in front of my family and friends.
Through the week, I have been asked the same question over and over again: “Henoc, will you be playing this Saturday?”
As much as they didn’t like the fact that I would not be able to play, it hurts me more to not be able to suit up.
To be sidelined sometimes could be a long process. But it definitely gave me time to, not only get physically stronger in my workouts, but also mentally stronger overall.
