Muamba on CFL: The longest season

A lot has happened since the last time I’ve blogged. The more games under my belt the more comfortable I continue to feel.

The biggest highlight has definitely been the touchdown I was able to return after a great blocked punt by James Green. Although the game was lost in then end it is always good to be able to help out your team and change the momentum of the game. With that said I hope to do that more and more as I go on in this season and my career.

We are currently on Week 15 of my first season in the CFL. My body has never gone through this much football nonstop, even with the amount of games I missed at the start of the season.

Like everybody else in the league at this point in the season, the body is beat up, there are aches and pains in different places on the body. But it’s the team’s desire to be great, the desire to win it all, the desire to be a champion that keeps us going. The desire to have the last win of the year that helps us forget about our nicks and wounds on game days!

Great focus, immense execution and mental toughness are the main characteristics that must be displayed. The team that does just that most consistently throughout the last home stretch of the regular season and through the playoffs will be the team that will be crowned the 2011 Grey Cup champions.

Focus and being able to finish has been constantly stressed by the coaches — especially the last few games — in order to accomplish our goal.

At this point we are where we want to be at: Tied for first place in a position to control our own destiny. And about to face a very good Edmonton Eskimo team that is in a similar situation as us. Wins this late in the season mean a lot more to everyone in the league as the playoffs games are at stake.

We’ve beaten them before and we believe that if we focus and execute our game plan we can do it again.
