Riders WR Dominguez season is over

Saskatchewan Roughriders’ receiver Matt Dominguez has been sidelined for the season with his second knee injury in two seasons and is contemplating retirement.

Results of an MRI show Dominguez has a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, the same knee he injured midway through last season when he was leading the league in receiving yards.

The latest injury happened in last weekend’s win over Calgary on the play he fumbled after a catch and Wes Cates picked up the ball and ran it in for a touchdown that stood up as the winning points.

Dominguez had already told the Saskatchewan media prior to the MRI results that if the knee was torn, he would lean strongly toward retirement.

The Riders have lost three starting receivers to injuries this year: D.J. Flick, Andy Fantuz and Dominguez. Flick and Fantuz have broken legs and may be back for post-season play.
