The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed former NFL running back Trent Richardson, the team announced Tuesday afternoon.
This announcement comes roughly one month after reports surfaced indicating Richardson was on the verge of signing with the Riders before having a last-minute change of heart because he did not want to sign a multi-year deal.

Richardson was a third-overall selection of the Cleveland Browns in 2012. After registering 1,317 all-purpose yards and 12 total touchdowns in his rookie campaign, the former University of Alabama star was traded to the Indianapolis Colts early in his sophomore season. Richardson struggled with the Colts, averaging 3.1 yards per carry over nearly two full seasons with the team, before being waived in March 2015. He joined the Oakland Raiders less than a week after being cut by the Colts but failed to make Oakland’s final roster. During the 2016 off-season, Richardson signed with the Baltimore Ravens but once again was let go prior to the start of the regular season.
The 27-year-old was reportedly added to Saskatchewan’s negotiation list on July 28.
