Stampeders sign running back Brandon Wilds, linebacker Perry Young

CALGARY — The Calgary Stampeders have signed running back Brandon Wilds and linebacker Perry Young.

Wilds, from Chapin, S.C., had 16 carries for 42 yards and two catches for 20 yards in seven career NFL games with the New York Jets and Jacksonville Jaguars.

He originally signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2016 and has also spent time with the Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers. Most recently, he was a member of the XFL’s Tampa Bay Vipers.

Young, from Homewood, Ala., played 46 games over four seasons at the University of Cincinnati, where he recorded 269 career tackles including 21.5 tackles for loss.

He was one of the Bearcats’ team captains as a senior and earned first-team all-American Athletic Conference honours in both 2018 and 2019.
