CFL: Stamps Armour wrongly ejected

TORONTO — The Canadian Football League announced Sunday that the ejection of Calgary linebacker JoJuan Armour in Saturday night’s game between the Stampeders and Saskatchewan Roughriders was unwarranted.

Armour was ejected early in the game for making contact with an official during the course of play. Upon review of video footage, the league determined that the contact resulted from prior contact between Armour and a Saskatchewan player.

"We sincerely regret that this officiating error was made and cost Mr. Armour the opportunity to play during last night’s game," CFL director of officiating Tom Higgins said in a statement.

"Our officials are professionals and do a tremendous job, but when a call is missed we take it very seriously and have an internal review system to deal with it appropriately."

Armour will be eligible to play in this Thursday’s rematch between Calgary and Saskatchewan in Regina.
