CALGARY — The Calgary Stampeders announced Thursday that they signed import linebacker Deron Mayo to a contract extension.
Mayo will be entering his third season with the Stampeders.
He played primarily on special teams as a rookie in 2012, and became a starter at outside linebacker during the Week 4 of last season, and finished second on the team with 57 tackles. Mayo also excelled at special teams, recording nine tackles.
"Deron has been a force both on special teams and on defence during his two years with the team," said coach and general manager John Hufnagel.
"He did an exceptional job stepping in as a starter for us last season and I look forward to his continued improvement."
