CALGARY — The Calgary Stampeders re-signed international defensive back Brandon McDonald on Friday.
McDonald was scheduled to become a free agent next month.
McDonald rejoined the Stampeders on Sept. 28 and started their final five regular-season games and two playoff contests. The 30-year-old had 32 tackles, one sack and two interceptions with the CFL club.
"Brandon stepped in and did an excellent job for us when we signed him during the season and I’m pleased that he’s chosen to return," Calgary general manager John Hufnagel said in a statement.
McDonald also played in eight games with Ottawa last season, registering 33 tackles, two interceptions and three knockdowns. He previously appeared in two games with Calgary in 2014 but was released and ultimately signed with Ottawa.
"I appreciate the Stamps for giving me another chance and I look forward to coming back to Calgary and helping the team in any way I can," said McDonald.
