Memphis Express quarterback Johnny Manziel was forced to leave Saturday’s Alliance of American Football (AAF) game against the Orlando Apollos with a head injury.
The 26-year-old threw an interception in the end zone and attempted to make a tackle on the return but got hit in the head with Will Hill III’s knee.
Manziel was playing in his second game since joining the Express on March 16. On Saturday, he went 2-of-3 for 13 yards while adding 18 yards on three carries before leaving with the injury.
The former Heisman Trophy winner was released by the Montreal Alouettes on Feb. 27 after he contravened the agreement which made him eligible to play in the CFL.
Last season, Manziel was placed in the CFL concussion protocol after taking a hit while trying to run the ball over the goal-line against the Ottawa Redblacks.
