Browns coach Freddie Kitchens hasn’t met OBJ, but loves him already

Cleveland radio co-host Emmett Golden joins the Starting Lineup to break down the Cleveland Browns Odell Beckham Jr. acquisition and why it’s a double whammy gaining one of the best receivers and with the Steelers losing one.

Freddie Kitchens is ready to welcome Odell Beckham Jr. with open arms — quite literally.

The Cleveland Browns head coach has yet to meet his star wide receiver, who was acquired by the Browns in a blockbuster trade with the New York Giants, but he already knows what his opening words will be: “I love you.”

It’s safe to assume every single Browns fan will be telling OBJ the same thing the first time he sets foot on the field.

Considering all the moves made by the Browns during this still-new off-season, it’s no wonder Kitchens is in such good spirits. The first-time head coach was the offensive mind behind quarterback Baker Mayfield’s red-hot rookie campaign to propel the young Browns to a 7-8-1 campaign following a winless 2017 season. The addition of OBJ makes Cleveland’s already-exciting offence straight-up dangerous — not to mention a whole lot of fun for Kitchens to coach.

Kitchens rose quickly through Cleveland’s ranks after being promoted from running backs coach to interim offensive coordinator after the firing of Hue Jackson and Todd Haley.
