CLEVELAND — Browns starting safety Damarious Randall will miss Monday night’s game against the New York Jets with a concussion.

Randall reported to the team’s facility Saturday with concussion-like symptoms. He has been placed in the league’s protocol for head injuries. Randall missed practice earlier in the week with what coach Freddie Kitchens said was a stomach virus.

Backup Eric Murray is the likely replacement for Randall, who was looking forward to the game and a chance to matchup against former Browns defensive co-ordinator Gregg Williams.

The Browns also said defensive end Chris Smith returned following the tragic death of his girlfriend, Petara Cordero, who was stuck by a car Wednesday morning. Smith practiced, but it hasn’t been determined if he’ll play in New York.

Linebacker Adarius Taylor will miss the game with an ankle injury and rookie Mack Wilson will take his spot in the Browns’ base defence.

Backup quarterback Drew Stanton is questionable with a knee injury.
