Buccaneers re-sign backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick

TAMPA, Fla. — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have re-signed backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who appeared in six games last season.

He is 35 years old and has played 13 seasons in the NFL. He returns on a one-year contract.

Fitzpatrick started three games while filling in for injured Jameis Winston in 2017. He completed 96 of163 passes for 1,103 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions.

He also has played for the St. Louis Rams, Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans and New York Jets.

Fitzpatrick was drafted by the Rams out of Harvard in 2005 in the seventh round. His 173 passing touchdowns are the most by an Ivy League quarterback.
