The Dallas Cowboys are being recognized as one of the teams to benefit the most from the 2020 NFL Draft last week, and that is reflected on the Super Bowl 55 odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Dallas had struggled to gain traction on the Super Bowl 55 betting lines since ending last season out of contention for a spot in the playoffs. However, the draft-day additions of Oklahoma Sooners star receiver CeeDee Lamb and Alabama cornerback Trevon Diggs have sparked the Cowboys to improved +2000 odds on those NFL futures.
Over in the NFC South, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers supplied quarterback Tom Brady with some much-needed protection by taking star offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs with the 13th overall pick in the draft. However, it is last week’s move to acquire former New England tight end Rob Gronkowski that has fueled the Buccaneers’ surge on the Super Bowl 55 odds, where they now sit deadlocked with the New Orleans Saints as a +1000 wager.
The Saints had just four picks in the 2020 NFL Draft, but they have still kept busy making headlines of their own. New Orleans is signing free agent quarterback Jameis Winston, and the addition of last year’s passing yards leader comes on the heels of receiver Emmanuel Sanders’ arrival as a free agent and the inking of Drew Brees to a contract extension. Despite those moves, though, the Saints are just ahead of Tampa Bay as a slender +100 favourite at online betting sites to repeat as NFC South champions.
Little has changed at the top of the Super Bowl 55 odds, where the Kansas City Chiefs remain set as +600 chalk, just ahead of the Baltimore Ravens at +650. The San Francisco 49ers have improved to +800 from their position at +1050 just before the draft, while the Cowboys remain knotted at +2000 on those NFL odds with the Buffalo Bills and Green Bay Packers.
The Bills strengthened their already stout defence with the addition of AJ Epenesa, who was surprisingly still available when they made their first selection late in the second round of the draft. The Packers, meanwhile, left some observers scratching their heads by trading up to take quarterback Jordan Love at No. 26.
The addition of Jalen Reagor bolsters a Philadelphia receiving corps that was ravaged by injury last season, but it was not enough to keep the Eagles from slipping to +2200 on the Super Bowl 55 odds. Philadelphia joins the Patriots, who came up short in their bid to land a quarterback at this year’s draft.
