The Philadelphia Eagles will be looking to extend their straight-up winning streak to six games when they play host to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday as heavy 13-point betting favourites on the NFL Week 8 odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Philadelphia tallied a 34-24 win over Washington as 5-point home chalk last week to improve to 6-1 on the season and extend its lead atop the NFC East standings to 2.5 games over the Redskins and Dallas Cowboys going into Sunday afternoon’s Niners vs. Eagles betting matchup at Lincoln Financial Field.

Quarterback Carson Wentz has been the straw stirring the Eagles’ drink. Selected second overall by Philadelphia in the 2016 NFL Draft, Wentz has shown veteran poise while racking up 11 touchdowns over the past three weeks, vaulting him to a short +300 wager on the NFL MVP odds for this season.

Conversely, the Niners’ freefall continued last week with a lopsided 40-10 loss to Dallas as 6-point home underdogs, dropping the team to 0-7 SU on the season and 1-21 SU over their past 22. However, San Francisco has kept things close in recent road dates, falling by three or fewer points in each of its past four, and going 4-1 against the spread over its past five.

Another surprising division leader puts a winning streak on the line as the New Orleans Saints host the Chicago Bears as 9-point chalk on Sunday. The Saints have won four straight SU and ATS to move atop the NFC South standings with a 4-2 record. However, consistency has escaped the Saints in recent home dates, with the club failing to tally consecutive SU wins during a 3-3 run.

The Bears look to establish their first three-game SU win streak since September 2013 after extending their run to two games last weekend by shocking Carolina with a 17-3 win as 2.5-point home underdogs. But Chicago is winless SU and ATS in three meetings with the Saints, including a 30-13 loss as 4.5-point underdogs in their last visit to the Big Easy in 2011.

In other NFL Week 8 action, the Minnesota Vikings try to extend their lead atop the NFC North as they take on the winless Cleveland Browns at Twickenham Stadium in London as 9.5-point chalk. The Seattle Seahawks attempt to pull even with the idle Los Angeles Rams atop the NFC West as they host the Houston Texans as 5.5-point chalk, while the AFC West-leading Kansas City Chiefs look to get back on track following two straight losses as they host the faltering Denver Broncos as 7-point favourites on Monday Night Football.
