FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The New York Jets signed 17 undrafted free agents to participate in their rookie mini-camp, including Brampton, Ont., defensive end Jamaal Westerman and former Harvard quarterback Chris Pizzotti.
Westerman appeared in 50 games for Rutgers, recording 141 tackles — including 44.5 for losses — with 26 sacks. The six-foot-three, 257-pounder had six sacks this past season despite being hampered by a torn biceps injury that required season-ending surgery and forced him to miss the PapaJohns.com Bowl.
Pizzotti, a two-time all-Ivy League selection who threw for 5,675 yards and 37 touchdowns for the Crimson, joined fifth overall pick Mark Sanchez and former Arkansas star Casey Dick on Friday as quarterbacks in the three-day camp.
Also signed were: tight ends J’Nathan Bullock, Andrew Davie and Rob Myers; punter T.J. Conley; safeties Emanuel Cook and Keith Fitzhugh; wide receiver Britt Davis; offensive linemen Kyle Link, Ryan McKee, Michael Parenton and Tavita Thompson; defensive linemen Matt Kroul, Zach Potter and Ty Steinkuhler; and fullback Brannan Southerland.
