CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The marketing agent for Cam Newton says the quarterback’s Twitter account has been suspended after it was hacked.

Carlos Fleming, who represents the Carolina Panthers star for IMG, says the issue is being resolved.

Fleming says "We are grateful to the people at Twitter and the Panthers organization who’ve been responsive to this issue and they have hopefully helped us resolve it."

Newton’s account was shut down Tuesday afternoon following a tweet calling Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman "overrated." That preceded more bizarre tweets, including "I wanna get signed to a good team" and "I wanna get released (at)panthers."

The fourth-year quarterback has struggled during the team’s five-game losing streak and his career record as an NFL starter has fallen to 27-30-1.
