NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A convicted murderer has pleaded guilty to selling the gun that was used to kill former NFL quarterback Steve McNair.
Federal court documents filed Friday show that Adrian Gilliam of La Vergne, Tenn., admitted that he sold a loaded 9 millimetre semi-automatic pistol to McNair’s mistress for US$100.
Nashville police have said the woman, Sahel Kazemi, used the weapon to kill McNair and then herself July 4.
Police said the 19-year-old Kazemi met Gilliam while she was trying to sell her car and told him she was looking to buy a gun. Gilliam was arrested about two weeks after the shootings.
Gilliam, who is 33, faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. According to prosecutors, he was convicted in 1993 in Florida for murder and attempted armed robbery.
Two sons seek share of estate
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The two oldest sons of slain NFL quarterback Steve McNair have gone to court seeking their share of his estate.
Steven L. McNair Jr. and Steven O’Bryan McNair filed their separate claims Thursday in Davidson County Circuit Court in Nashville.
McNair, who did not have a will, was shot to death by his girlfriend July 4 at a Nashville apartment.
She then killed herself.
Mechelle McNair, the player’s widow, and the couple’s two sons also have retained lawyers. So far there have been no disputes over how the US$19.6-million estate should be divided.
McNair spent most of his career with the Tennessee Titans and last played for the Baltimore Ravens.
