For most fans, sports are all about the highlights, and the NFL is no different.

From a game-winning touchdown pass to a devastating fumble in the dying seconds (sorry Chiefs fans), one single play can tell the story of an entire game without the need of an explanation.

The third edition of Sportsnet’s 2015 NFL Power Rankings looks back at all the must-see highlights — and lowlights — from what was a wild Week 2.

Rank Team Previous
1

How do you pick just one play from Sunday’s passing clinic? Tom Brady has been unstoppable in the first two games of the season. No. 12 leads the league in passing with 754 yards and seven touchdowns.

1
2

Aaron Rodgers looked good in this game, but what else is new? It’s this potentially game-saving interception from linebacker Jayrone Elliott (who also forced the game-ending fumble) that steals the must-see play from the reigning MVP.

2
3

For the first time in his regular-season career, Larry Fitzgerald scored three TDs in one game including one on a flea-flicker, which is always awesome. Before Sunday, Fitzy hadn’t caught a touchdown in nine straight games.

4
4

Peyton Manning isn’t the same quarterback he once was, that’s plain to see. But his game-tying drive in the final minutes, capped by an impressive TD pass to Emmanuel Sanders, proves the future Hall of Famer isn’t going away just yet.

7
5

Big men charging down the field grasping a football in their mitts is always entertaining, and offensive lineman Jake Fisher’s 31-yard catch was no different. The play gets bonus points for leading to a field goal, after which the Bengals never looked back on the way to a win over San Diego.

9
6

Julio Jones has been on an absolute tear in the first two weeks of the season. The dynamic receiver put the Falcons in range for the a winning score against the Eagles in Week 1, then did the exact same thing against the Giants in Week 2.

14
7

Antonio Brown made a trio of 49ers look silly with this catch-and-run on his way to racking up 195 yards on nine hauls Sunday in a rout of San Francisco. Of the Steelers’ 699 passing yards this season, No. 84 has accounted for 328 of them.

12
8

There’s no dancing around this — the Tony Romo injury has the potential to be devastating to the Cowboys. Brandon Weeden nor Matt Cassel will come close to filling the void No. 9 leaves under centre.

6
9

Russell Wilson made a few nice plays in Sunday night’s loss to the Packers, but it was Canadian Luke Willson who had the play of the game for Seattle.

3
10

In what was otherwise a solid showing for Jamal Charles (125 yard rushing, 5.9 yards per carry, 1 TD), his two fumbles cost the Chiefs the game, capped by one in the final seconds of a game that appeared ready to go to overtime.

5
11

It was the Jets defence that did the damage in Monday’s statement win over the Colts in Indianapolis, forcing five turnovers. Not surprisingly, Darrelle Revis was on the receiving end of three of those Indy miscues, one of which didn’t even require both shoes.

23
12

The Bills got a nasty dose of reality from Bill Belichick and the Patriots Sunday. Buffalo didn’t go down without a fight, though, and their comeback bid coincided with some stellar plays from young receiver Sammy Watkins.

8
13

Cam Newton literally played Superman in the Panthers’ Week 2 win, accounting for more than 75 per cent of Carolina’s total offence and sticking the landing (okay, not really) on this highlight-reel flip into the endzone.

20
14

For the second straight week, San Diego got off to a horrendous start. This time around the Chargers’ special teams handed the ball back to the opposition early in the game.

10
15

There is a myriad of plays we could go with from Monday night’s game that would perfectly capture what a disaster it was for the Colts, but none say it better than Frank Gore’s careless fumble on the goal line.

11
16

After a crucial division win over the Seahawks in Week 1, the Rams pulled a Rams and completely dropped the ball against Washington. St. Louis didn’t look good often, but this gem of a TD pass from Nick Foles to Kenny Britt is worth a watch.

13
17

Year after year, the Dolphins have continued to be their own worst enemy. So far, the 2015 season has been no different. Exhibit A: a needless defensive penalty late in the game that kept the Jaguars’ drive alive, which ended in a Jacksonville game-winning field goal.

17
18

One positive to take from an absolute whooping in Pittsburgh was Colin Kaepernick’s solid day under centre. His 335 yards passing were No. 7’s best since Week 6 of last season. Plays like this bomb to Torrey Smith are a good sign for Niners fans.

19
19

After touching the ball just 13 times in the Vikings’ season opener, Adrian Peterson was a huge part of Minnesota’s win over the Lions. Arguably, none of his plays were bigger than this flip pass from Teddy Bridgewater on third-and-one deep in their own end.

26
20

No team has more rushing yards than Washington through two weeks of the season. Week 1 starred Alfred Morris, while rookie Matt Jones stole the show with 123 yards and two scores in Week 2, highlighted by this 39-yard gallop to pay dirt.

28
21

After an underwhelming Week 1 showing that ended with an injury, Derek Carr showed up in a big way against the Ravens. Not only did he lead a winning drive in the final minutes, he had the best game of his young career.

31
22

The Ravens have lost a couple of heart-breaking games, both of which have ended on Joe Flacco interceptions. Baltimore’s quarterback was much better in his second game in Marc Trestman’s offence, but this team’s early struggles on both sides of the ball are cause for concern.

15
23

Johnny Football did a total 180 in his second game of the season, kicking it off with a long TD throw on his first toss of the game and, more importantly, he committed zero turnovers!

30
24

The season has not gotten off to the start the Lions wanted, and while a lot of that has to do with poor play from what was the league’s best defence last season, Matthew Stafford and the offence have not helped.

18
25

We’re going with DeMarco Murray’s leap over a Cowboys defender here, mostly because it’s the only good thing the Eagles did offensively Sunday. Murray had 285 rushing yards this time last season. He has 11 so far in 2015.

16
26

The Giants were foiled yet again by a horrible display in the fourth quarter, but Odell Beckham Jr. showed again why he’s the New York’s most important player — Eli Manning threw for 292 yards, OBJ had 146 of them.

22
27

Blake Bortles and Allen Robinson punished the Dolphins early and often in an impressive passing display Sunday, exploiting a weak Miami defence with plays like this 46-yard score.

29
28

The Texans struggled to get anything going on offence in the first half, but an 80-yard touchdown drive ending with this one-handed grab by Garrett Graham in the third quarter got Houston back on track. A final-minute game-tying drive, however, stalled in the red zone.

27
29

It wasn’t likely that Marcus Mariota was going to replicate his historic NFL debut, but man did he plummet back down to earth. The No. 2 overall pick had three fumbles Sunday, low-lighted by this play, during which he loses his shoe, his helmet, and then the ball.

24
30

After struggling mightily in his debut, Jameis Winston was much more composed in his second game. The first-overall pick made a couple of impressive plays in a bounce-back performance, including this pinpoint, on-the-run toss to Louis Murphy.

32
31

Jay Cutler’s pick-six that led to a hamstring injury perfectly sums up the Bears quarterback’s career doesn’t it? Already struggling with Cutler, expect Chicago’s early-season woes to continue without him.

25
32

The days of an offensively gifted Saints team that dominates at home are long gone. Instead, New Orleans is a bumbling, fumbling shadow of its former self that has lost six straight game at the Superdome.
