Every Saturday, Sportsnet fantasy analyst Andy McNamara will answer all your fantasy football questions ahead of Sunday’s slate of games. If you’re looking for fantasy football advice, message him on Twitter using #AskAndy.
It’s time. All the pre-season prep work, the constant lineup tinkering, nail-biting league head-to-head battles and it has all led to the fantasy football championship! Congratulations, one more stop to glory!
Of course, if your fantasy playoffs go deeper or you’re looking to win some cash in DFS contests, then consider the below answers to my followers an early NFL Christmas present from me.
This will be the final “#AskAndy” fantasy football advice column for the 2019 campaign, but I’ll still be pumping out plenty of fantasy content on sportsnet.ca so follow along.
Now let’s go win a title!
From @CRolland_3 – Championship bound! With Perriman as one of the hottest adds this week, would you play him over DJ Moore or Sutton? Concerned about Will Grier stepping in, but no idea how that will affect Moore’s production.
Absolutely, no doubt I would. We’ve seen the chemistry building between Perriman and Jameis Winston even before the Mike Evans and Chris Godwin injuries. Moore’s value is a giant question mark right now with Will Grier making his first NFL start. Sutton definitely has a chance to make some noise, but I’ll take the passing upside of Winston over Drew Lock.
From @cjohnson202 – #AskAndy need two of three: Kerryon Johnson, Melvin Gordon or Austin Ekeler.
I’d be worried about the workload for Kerryon returning from the I.R., coupled with Detroit head coach Matt Patricia’s at times random running back usage. Plug in both Gordon and Ekeler.
You might want to also think about Miami’s Patrick Laird if this is PPR in a plus matchup versus the Bengals.
From @BerryPortley – In the fantasy championship this week! Do I go with Aaron Rodgers or higher ceiling with Jameis Winston? #AskAndy
The answer is definitely Famous Jameis here. Could Aaron Rodgers fire off a mega performance? Of course! However, he’s thrown for under 245-yards in every game since Week 8, and has only tossed more than one touchdown a single time during that stretch.
Winston is a fearless, wild man who’s a fantasy beast. He’s averaged 35-fantasy points and a total of more than 900-passing yards over the last two weeks. No Mike Evans, no Chris Godwin, no problem.
From @sportsfanjer – #AskAndy for my fantasy final, do I slot in Tannehill, Minshew or Rivers? Thanks!
Who would’ve thought at the beginning of the season that two of these three names would be anywhere near a starting lineup?! Phil Rivers has the best matchup, but he’s been completely unreliable and I cannot argue with the consistency of Ryan Tannehill.
The Titans starter is chucking an 11-to-2 TD/INT ratio since Week 10 and averaging 23.76-FPTS during that stretch. Make a call to the Tanne-Thrill one more time!
From DeKeyser Soze on Twitter – #AskAndy standard league pick one of Gurley or Boone. Then two out of Boyd, McLaurin, Woods and Metcalf
Give me Gurley, based on his rise in overall touches. Then I’ll take Boyd against the Dolphins and Metcalf, who’s produced four scores plus over 11-FPTs in every game except one during the second half of 2019.
From @ChrisMcMillan29 – I actually made the finals! Thank you for your help this year. Question, would you still start Winston over Rivers or Goff with Evans and Godwin out. Also Cook or Higbee at TE? #AskAndy
Winston over Rivers, 100 per cent. It looks like Gerald Everett will return from injury, which at the very least puts Higbee in an undesirable timeshare. Look to Cook who’s facing a Tennessee defence that’s allowing the 10th most fantasy points to TEs.
From @gxrnv – #AskAndy Playing for third. Need two flexes (waivers is locked for any team not in final) 10tmppr. Damien Williams, Kerryon Johnson, TY Hilton, OBJ, Higbee, Jared Cook, L. Murray. Was loading up for a final. Obviously waiting on some injury news. Thanks Andy.
Finish strong, my man! I’ll slot in Jared Cook and Hilton here with the rest having too difficult of a matchup or lack of consistent opportunity.
From @SethHudgins1 – Hey Andy, playing for the ship! Two questions- DJ Moore or Breshad Perriman, and Phillip Lindsay or Devin Singletary? I need your help! #AskAndy
Perriman for sure (I’ll take the upside of Jameis Winston over Will Grier any day) and go with Lindsay in a potential smash spot versus the Lions.
From @BenNacson – #AskAndy made it to the finals woop woop! Half PPR, do I play Anthony Miller, Perriman or Peterson over Woods, McLaurin or Drake?
Congrats, time to bring home the trophy! Perriman over McLaurin and Miller instead of Drake. It’s a fantasy crime that McLaurin isn’t partnered with a better quarterback with all his talent, alas, this is the world we live in.
Kenyan Drake has been solid since joining the Cardinals, however, don’t get hooked on his four touchdowns last Sunday. Miller is quietly become a fantasy stud in Chicago and needs to be slotted into any lineup.
From @ThatxReungirth – #AskAndy after two weeks of low production from Jack Doyle, would you consider benching him? These guys are available: Noah Fant, OJ Howard and Jonnu Smith.
Since you have those other three options available, then yes I would park Jack Doyle and the flat Colts offence. Noah Fant has the juiciest matchup, but he’s not at 100 per cent and O.J. Howard is in a tight end timeshare with Cameron Brate.
That means you’re going to tune up Jonnu Smith, who’s produced consecutive double digit FPTs outings that combined for eight catches and a touchdown.
From @massie85 – #AskAndy Championship week! Need you to come up with your best call of the season! PPR: pick 2: Parker, Diggs, Hilton, John Brown or Juju. #mcnamaratrophy
If Parker is healthy, then you need to roll him out. After that, I would go to Diggs with the Vikings at home.
From Matty Fatsaxxx on Twitter – Thank you, oh wise one, your advice through the season has gotten me to the promised land, now all I need for the final is some sleeper WR’s? Perriman your recommended last week worked, need another please. #AskAndy
Excellent, happy to help! Outside of playing Perriman again, look to the Eagles’ Greg Ward and Bears’ Anthony Miller.
Check out my full list of sleepers in my “Under the Wire” column.
