Records are meant to be broken, but there’s one in particular that hasn’t been matched for half a century.
Nearly fifty years ago, legendary Chicago Bears running back Gale Sayers tied an NFL record with six touchdowns against the San Francisco 49ers.
Sayers went on to win the NFL Rookie of the Year in 1965.
The only other players who have scored six touchdowns in a single game are Ernie Nevers of the Chicago Cardinals in 1929 and Dub Jones of the Cleveland Browns in 1951.
