Carolina linebacker Thomas Davis has won the Good Guy Award from the Professional Football Writers of America for his consistent co-operation with the media.
Davis, who helped the Panthers reach the Super Bowl, was honoured by PFWA on Tuesday.
The Good Guy Award is given to a NFL player for his qualities and professional style in helping pro football writers do their jobs. The award was first given by the PFWA in 2005.
"Davis tackles questions the same way he does ball carriers — direct and to the point," said Joe Person, who covers the Panthers for the Charlotte Observer."
Davis started all 16 games in 2015, with 123 tackles, a career-high 5 1/2 sacks and four interceptions. He added four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and seven passes defenced as the Panthers finished 15-1.
Davis played in the Super Bowl with a broken right forearm that he injured in the second quarter of the Panthers’ 49-15 rout of the Cardinals in the NFC championship game.
