What sort of parting gift do you give to a quarterback who has everything?

The New England Patriots went the classy route, taking out a full-page ad in the Tampa Bay TimesTom Brady‘s new “hometown” newspaper — to thank the veteran quarterback for two decades of service and success.

“THANK YOU TOM,” the ad reads in all caps at the top. The lower half features a picture of Brady, with a celebratory fist in the air, donning a Patriots uniform and beanie.

“For 20 amazing years, you gave us everything you had,” the ad continues. “When you arrived as a sixth-round pick — and the best selection this franchise has ever made — no one imagined all you’d accomplish or how much you’d soon mean to an entire region.”

The rest of the message includes a quick list of his playing resume — six Super Bowls, nine conference titles and 17 division victories — and well-wishes moving forward.

“To the Buccaneers fans and the Tampa Bay community — take care of him. You got a great one.”

Brady recently signed a two-year, $50 million deal (plus $9 million in incentives) with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The 42-year-old’s legacy will always be most closely associated with the Patriots, but a new chapter in his career has begun.
