The Los Angeles Rams will be looking to claim their second Super Bowl title in franchise history when they take on the New England Patriots on Sunday, Feb. 3 as early three-point underdogs on the NFL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Los Angeles punched its ticket to this year’s Super Bowl with a narrow 26-23 win over New Orleans in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, and is now unbeaten straight up in four straight ahead of next week’s Patriots vs. Rams betting matchup at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The Rams emerged as the class of the NFC this season while successfully repeating as NFC West division champions for the first time in four decades. Los Angeles finished tied with the Saints with a league-leading 13-3 record, but the team struggled at times over the second half of the season, losing SU in three of six during a run that started in early November. The Rams also covered in just two of nine contests prior to their current 4-0 against-the-spread run.

While the Rams’ vaunted offence has regularly captured the spotlight, it has been the team’s defence that has been the difference-maker in recent outings. Los Angeles has surrendered an average of 20 points per game over its past seven contests, ending a worrisome run of five of 11 games in which the team surrendered 30 or more points.

Another notable trend concerning the Rams is their current five-game SU losing streak against New England. Point production has been a massive problem for the Rams in recent dates with the Patriots. The Rams have averaged a meagre 14.4 points per game over their past five meetings with New England, capped by a 26-10 loss at Gillette Stadium as 13-point underdogs in December 2016.

The Patriots make a third straight trip to the Super Bowl after tallying a 37-31 victory over Kansas City as three-point underdogs on the AFC Championship Game odds.

After stumbling to a middling 4-3 SU finish to their regular season schedule, the Patriots entered the playoffs amid tempered expectations. However, they have risen to the occasion with character wins over both the Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers to sit as -140 moneyline favorites on the Super Bowl odds.

With those wins, New England now enjoys an unprecedented 11-2 SU run in 13 playoff contests since January 2015, picking up the ATS win in nine of those outings. However, the Patriots have produced mixed results as narrow betting favourites in the playoffs, losing outright in two of their past three outings when set as favourites of three or fewer points at sports betting sites.
