Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver A.J. Green has suffered a setback in his recovery from an ankle injury and is now out indefinitely, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

There was speculation Green could make his season debut this Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens, but the wideout’s injured left ankle swelled during practice early in the week. The 31-year-old suffered torn ligaments in his ankle early in the pre-season.

According to Schefter, Green hasn’t ruled out a return in 2019 but says he’s not willing to return to the field without getting through a full week of practice.

The fourth-overall pick in 2011, Green has had a Hall of Fame-calibre career with the Bengals, racking up 8,907 receiving yards and 63 touchdowns in 111 career regular-season games.
