The Indianapolis Colts have agreed to a contract with linebacker Justin Houston, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Houston will reportedly sign a two-year, $24-million deal with the Colts, as per Schefter.
The 30-year-old Houston was cut by the Chiefs on March 10, freeing up $14 million in cap space.
A third-round pick in 2011, Houston has spent his entire eight-year career with the Kansas City Chiefs as a pass-rushing specialist. In 102 games for the Chiefs, Houston recorded 78.5 total sacks – including 22 in 2014, half a sack from tying Michael Strahan’s single-season record.
The Colts were a surprising success under new head coach Frank Reich last season, but despite boasting a top-10 defence struggled to get pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Indy registered 38 sacks in 16 regular-season games, tied for eighth fewest in the league.
