Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is planning to sign an exclusive franchise tender worth $31.4 million on Monday, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The tender will serve as a one-year contract for Prescott, 26, allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent in 2021. It will also mean he carries the largest cap hit in the NFL.
When the deal is officially signed, Prescott will be contractually obligated to report to training camp on time, per Schefter, whether or not he’s able to reach a long-term agreement with the Cowboys by then.
Prescott has started every game for the Cowboys since his rookie season in 2016. Last year, the two-time Pro Bowler posted career highs in passing yards (4,902) and touchdowns (30).
