Report: Cowboys, Elliott aiming to sign new contract this weekend

Running back Ezekiel Elliott and the Dallas Cowboys are aiming the have a new contract signed this weekend, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Elliott has been a hold out at Cowboys training camp as he seeks a new deal. He currently has two years remaining on his rookie contract.

The 24-year-old is looking to become one of the highest-paid running backs in the NFL.

Todd Gurley of the Los Angeles Rams currently tops the list after he inked a four-year deal worth $57.5 million last summer.

Elliott ran for 1,434 yards and six touchdowns in 15 starts last season for Dallas.
