The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to a four-year, $68-million contract with defensive tackle Grady Jarrett, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Another deadline deal: Falcons and DT Grady Jarrett reached agreement on a four-year, $68 million deal, sources tell ESPN. Falcons beat deadline and lock up their DT.
Grady Jarrett is only 26, so will get another chance at another contract at 30. His $17 million average is only behind Fletcher Cox and Aaron Donald for interior DL in NFL. Jarrett hasn’t been voted to a Pr Bowl nor had more than six sacks in a season. But he now has cashed in.
The deal comes ahead of the NFL’s 4 p.m. ET deadline to sign players who have been franchise tagged to multi-year contracts. Jarrett inked his $15.2-million tag back in April.
A fifth-round selection in 2015, the 26-year-old Garrett has emerged has one of the league’s top defensive tackles and is coming off his best season as a pro. The Conyers, Ga., native racked up 52 combined tackles in 14 games in 2018 along with six sacks and 16 quarterback hits, both career highs.
