Rock star Jon Bon Jovi has serious interest in purchasing the Buffalo Bills when the team comes for sale, according to a report from Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

According to La Canfora, Bon Jovi is positioning himself to be one of the contestants for the franchise and has spent significant time in the Buffalo area “getting to know politicians and power brokers.”

Bon Jovi has a close relationship with New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and is said to be held in high regard by a number of NFL owners and executives.

Bon Jovi reportedly has major ties to Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment CEO Tim Leiweke, who spent considerable time with AEG trying to bring an NFL team to Los Angeles. In Leiweke’s first year with MLSE, the company hung a banner for the rock star at the Air Canada Centre.

La Canfora’s report also included that Rogers Communications, which owns this website and which hosts annual Bills games in Toronto, are also considered to be a legitimate candidate to purchase the team.

The Bills franchise will be up for sale once owner Ralph Wilson, 95, dies. He has owned the club since its inception in 1960.
