Playoff expansion could be coming soon to the National Football League.

The MMQB.com’s Peter King reported Monday that the NFL is strongly considering adding two more playoff teams, bringing the total to 14, in time for the 2015 season.

“I’m hearing it’s probably a matter of when, not if,” King wrote Monday.

The league is reportedly looking to add two more matchups to wildcard weekend. That means only one team per conference would get a first-round bye with No. 2 vs. No. 7, No. 3 vs. No. 6 and No. 4 vs. No. 5 taking place on the opening weekend of the post-season.

King added that ‘at least’ one of the wildcard games could move to Monday night.

The topic is expected to be addressed next week at the owners meetings in Orlando.
