The NFL salary cap has been raised to $198.2 million for the upcoming season, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
That’s a $10-million increase from the 2019 season, when the cap was $188.2 million. This is the seventh consecutive year in which the cap has increased by at least $10 million.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter also reported that overall player costs per team are up to $242.9 million, which means $44.7 million will go toward benefits and the performance-based pay pool.
The NFL Players Association narrowly approved a new collective bargaining agreement on Sunday, which will provide the league with an additional decade of labour peace.
Part of the CBA is an increase in team roster size, from 53 to 55, as well as an increased revenue share for players.
