Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch will be out at least one month due to a groin injury, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The absence of Lynch is a big blow for a Raiders team that has struggled mightily in Jon Gruden’s return to head coaching. Oakland has won just a single game through the first six weeks of the season and ranks in the bottom 10 in both offence and defence.
Lynch, 32, has been Oakland’s most active offensive player and leads the team in total yards from scrimmage with 460. Doug Martin will reportedly be tasked with taking over in Lynch’s absence, while Jalen Richard will serve as backup and continue to play a role in passing downs.
The Raiders have a bye week this weekend and return in Week 8 at home against the Indianapolis Colts.
