The Denver Broncos are finalizing a trade to send quarterback Trevor Siemian to the Minnesota Vikings, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Denver is also sending Minnesota a late-round pick in the upcoming NFL draft and receiving a 2019 selection in return.
Siemian is seemingly being brought to the Vikings to back up Kirk Cousins, who is reportedly flying to Minnesota on Wednesday to continue to work towards a contract.
Siemian has started 24 games for the Broncos over the last two seasons with a record of 13-11. The 26-year-old has shown glimpses of promise, but has also struggled and was benched for a month by coach Vance Joseph after seven games last season.
The Vikings remain a quarterback-needy team despite a reported fully guaranteed contract with Cousins as all three signal callers who were on the roster last season — Case Keenum, Sam Bradford and Teddy Bridgewater — hit free agency on Wednesday afternoon. That trio have all agreed to terms with new teams, including Keenum signing a two-year deal in Denver.
