The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to trade wide receiver Torrey Smith to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for cornerback Daryl Worley, according to multiple reports.
The trade won’t become official until March 14 at 4 p.m. ET when the new league year gets underway.
Smith had 67 receptions for 430 yards and a pair of touchdowns in 2017 after signing a three-year, $15-million contract with the Eagles in the off-season. The 29-year-old added 157 yards and a score in the post-season as the Eagles marched to victory in Super Bowl LII.
The 23-year-old Worley has started 25 games for the Panthers in his first two NFL seasons, recording three interceptions and 150 total tackles.
The move is expected to save Philadelphia approximately $4 million against the salary cap while adding depth at corner, a position of need for the Eagles. The addition of Smith in Carolina, meanwhile, brings a valuable veteran presence to a young receiving corps.
