The New England Patriots have released wide receiver Josh Gordon off injured reserve, according to multiple reports.

Gordon is now subject to waivers. If he clears waivers, the 28-year-old will become an unrestricted free agent.

The Patriots placed Gordon on IR last week after the wide receiver had struggled to return to the field due to a lingering knee injury. Reports at the time indicated Gordon felt he was close to returning and that he wanted a release in order to sign with a team as soon as possible.

Gordon has 20 receptions, 287 yards and a touchdown so far in the 2019 season, and will finish his time with the Patriots with 60 catches and four touchdowns.
