The San Francisco 49ers will be looking to extend the NFL’s longest current straight-up win streak to five games on Sunday when they take on the Los Angeles Rams as 2.5-point favourites on the NFL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

San Francisco has claimed victory in five of six contests since opening the campaign with nine straight losses, including outright wins in two road games ahead of Sunday afternoon’s 49ers vs. Rams betting matchup at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

The Niners’ turnaround has coincided with the arrival of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who was acquired from New England via a late October trade. The former backup to Tom Brady has performed with cool efficiency in four starts for the Niners, completing 69.0% of pass attempts while racking up six total touchdowns, including a three-score performance in last week’s 44-33 win over Jacksonville as 4-point underdogs.

San Francisco will be facing a high-scoring Rams squad that can lock up the No. 3 playoff seed in the NFC with a win this weekend, but is expected to rest both quarterback Jared Goff and running back Todd Gurley. The Rams have already clinched the NFC West division title.

Elsewhere, the Patriots can lock up the AFC’s top seed and homefield advantage throughout the conference playoffs with a win as they host the New York Jets as heavy 15.5-point home favourites this weekend. New England has taken six of seven from the Jets but has covered just once in nine meetings. However, the Patriots are on a perfect 6-0 ATS run while favoured by 14 or more points.

Elsewhere on the NFL Week 17 odds, both Baltimore and Tennessee control their own destinies as they pursue AFC wild card spots. The 9-7 Ravens can clinch the No. 5 seed with a win as they battle the Cincinnati Bengals as 9.5-point home favourites, while the 8-7 Titans can lock up a playoff berth with a win in their date with the Jacksonville Jaguars as 3.5-point home chalk.

And the Atlanta Falcons are pegged as 4-point betting favourites against Carolina as they pursue the final NFC wild card berth, while the Seattle Seahawks need a win combined with a Falcons loss to advance to the playoffs as they host Arizona as 9.5-point favourites on Sunday afternoon.
