Super Bowl prop bets: Long national anthem highlights odds

All eyes will be on the clock when pop star Demi Lovato performs the national anthem ahead of Super Bowl 54 between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs. Lovato is a -230 favourite to belt out a rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner that lasts longer than two minutes on the Super Bowl prop bets at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Lovato is no stranger to singing the national anthem before major sporting events. The 27-year-old American took 2:12 to sing the anthem prior to the 2017 bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor. However, she needed just 1:58 in her performance at Game 4 of the 2015 World Series between the New York Mets and Kansas City Royals.

Speedy performances have also been the norm at each of the past two Super Bowl matchups, with Pink and Gladys Knight turning in renditions of 1:54 or less, adding value to a +160 wager at online betting sites on Lovato taking under two minutes in her performance at Hard Rock Stadium.

The ladies will also dominate the stage at the Super Bowl 54 halftime show, with this year’s spectacle headlined by Jennifer Lopez and Shakira. This year’s show is expected to have a strong Latin vibe. Accordingly, the odds of the star duo performing at least two songs in Spanish are pegged at a short -300, but the odds of either star’s opening remarks to the audience being in Spanish lag at +150.

Lopez sports short -160 odds of making at least three wardrobe changes during the set, but the odds of either singer suffering a wardrobe malfunction on Sunday sit at a lengthy +1000.

Elsewhere on the Super Bowl 54 exotic props, there has been plenty of movement on the betting lines on what colour Gatorade shower the winning coach will receive at the end of Sunday’s game. While lime/green/yellow had emerged as an early favourite, the odds have shifted heavily in recent days, with a purple shower saluting Kobe Bryant now the -120 chalk.

Commercials are also expected to be a source of entertainment for the tens of millions of viewers tuning into Sunday’s Super Bowl broadcast. Over 92.5 commercials are favoured to be shown at -125 odds at sportsbooks, but the odds of Nike airing a commercial featuring former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick sit back at +600.
