At the 14:20 mark of the first quarter, Brady — who entered the night with 71,923 career passing yards — connected with Sony Michel for a 19-yard completion that moved him past Peyton Manning and into second place on the all-time list.
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees (74,845 yards) remains the NFL’s passing leader.
Brady, who was selected 199th in the 2000 NFL draft, has enjoyed an illustrious 20-year career that includes six Super Bowls, three MVP awards and 14 Pro Bowls. The Patriots entered Thursday’s game with a 5-0 record.
