With less than two weeks before the NFL kicks off its 100th season, the biggest bombshell in recent memory was unleashed with Andrew Luck announcing that he is retiring from the NFL.

The former first overall pick has been dealing with injuries for the past couple of seasons, and is ready to hang up the cleats.

The reaction on social media made the news the top trending story on Twitter with people expressing their shock over the news. What is also surprising is how much money Luck is expected to leave on the table by retiring.

It was a strange sight with Luck on the sidelines as the Colts took on the Chicago Bears in pre-season action. Let’s just say fans were not too thrilled, booing the quarterback as he walked off the field.

Of course, this leaves the Colts without their elite quarterback and Jacoby Brissett will take over the starter’s job. Colts fans don’t seem too happy about this development.

While this news obviously hurts the Colts, the people who decided to draft Luck on their fantasy football teams are none too thrilled either.
