Is it the reverse effect of 1972? With the Miami Dolphins and St. Louis Rams both 0-fer so far this year, will we see a winless season?
It’s been 31 years since a NFL team has gone the entire season without a win. In case you’re wondering, it was the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Are we about to witness another run of futility? Right now, we’re getting two for the price of one. Both the Dolphins and Rams are 0-7 and have legit shots at getting shutout.
Or do they?
Although injuries have played a key part in this, both teams are awful. Even the ’72 Dolphins have said they’re embarrassed as to what they are witnessing from their franchise.
In terms of schedules, the Rams have it easier (SF, ATL, CIN) but you know bad teams always find a way to lose. Not to mention, their current offensive line couldn’t block a hallway.
As for the Fish, they still have some tough dates (NE, PIT, NYG). Then again, I guess all the games are tough when you have yet to win one.
While it seems improbable either team will get blanked, it’s definitely possible. Misery loves company, so who knows maybe they’ll go down in history together. In my opinion, they’ll both probably squeak out a win here and there, but if one team doesn’t I think it will be Miami.
How ironic, in a season when New England and Indianapolis are on a record setting pace, we have two teams at the other end of the spectrum.
Miami and St. Louis fans — step up and support your teams. Is there a light at the end of that very long, dark tunnel? If so, in what week will it the slide end? Do you need to blow things up and start from scratch?
Hey, I am an Eagles fan, and we may need that button when you’re done.

Granted there is no possible argument to defend how bad the Dolphins are this year. They have been on a ugly slide since Shula retired. they have not done any thing in the draft since Jimmy Johnson.
This new coach I like him and I think he is going to be able to turn this around. Not this year but in a couple years they are gonna be contenders again.
Seban did a number on the Fins and I can’t believe he got a job, I know he was good a College I guess he should have stayed cause what he did to the fins is embarrassing.

Although the Rams are in a tonne of injury trouble, they can still pull off a couple Ws. The injuries to Bulger, Steven Jackson, Tory Holt, Isacc Bruce, Orlando Pace and half the O-line (all Pro Bowlers) killed them this year. But SanFran looks terrible with Dilfer taking over the healm and an O coordinator that the team doesn’t believe in. The Falcons are in big trouble too. D’aglelo Hall just ripped his coach again after cutting the best defensive player. Alge Crumpler, their team captain is disgruntle as well at the youth movement Patrino’s installing. And with Leftwich out and Harrington back at the healm, the Rams pull off two wins here right away. The Tuna though, I hope they go winless and that 82 ulumnie can choke that champagne up all over their ugly suits. The NFL GOOF BGIANT.

I just bought a shiny new orange dolphins jersey this year too. Looks like I won’t get much of a chance to wear it though…Taking Ginn over Quinn is looking like an error of colossal proportions right about now. Though we’ll have a top 5 pick this year to remedy that lack, it would’ve been nice to see a guy already getting snaps. Green was a mistake, I said so all along, and Lemon–the name says it all. Just like leaf fans, I’m thinkin’ there’s always next year.

Hey Porty, don’t worry about your Egales just cause my bears had one of the most exciting comebacks in their history to beat them! McNabb will be in a Bears uniform soon enough.
As for the fish and rams, I see them both winning at least one. your forgetting they put up 28 points against the ban wagon jumpers all time favorite team(the pats) that everyone is saying is invincable.
I don’t think anyone is going to be 16-0, or 0-16. the best teams to do it though are the Colts and the Dolphins but it aint gonna happen. I remember the 85 dolphins team sucking that year and came out and spanked my beloved Bears on that horrible painful to watch monday night game.

I really hope a team goes winless, it would be so funny! I was really hoping it would be the Hamilton Tiger Cats, but an NFL team will have to do. It think it is going to be tough though. The Rams get to play Atlanta (how did they get a win?) and the Dolphins get to play the Jets at home (the Jets only win came against the Dolphins and not by much). I’m thinking there is a good chance of having 4 one win teams by the end of the year which is pretty incredible in itself.
