Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has been ruled out of Sunday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers with a knee injury he suffered late in the third quarter.

Peterson couldn’t put any weight on his right leg following the injury and had to be helped to the locker room by medical staff.

The Vikings didn’t take long to announce that the 31-year-old would not return.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer told reporters after the 17-14 win that Peterson will have an MRI Monday morning to determine the extent of the injury, but that “whatever it was, it calmed down.”
