Last year, Super Bowl XLVIII became the most-watched American television program in history with an average audience of 111.5 million viewers, the fourth time in five years the Big Game had set a record. Stats like that make it prime real estate for advertisers, but it doesn’t come cheap as 30-second commercials for this year’s game have a going rate of US$4.5 million.
