Will Denver cover biggest spread in NFL history?

Peyton Manning and the Broncos boast one the NFL’s best offences ever through six weeks.

Going off at an incredible minus-26.5, the Denver Broncos are being tasked with covering the biggest spread in NFL history Sunday.

Many people are backing the Broncos to cover that monster spread too, and the OddsShark.com NFL picks computer agrees with the masses.

Computer predictions have the Broncos beating lowly Jacksonville by a score of 43.8 to 6.2, which would easily cover the huge chalk. Interestingly, that score would go UNDER the posted total of 53.5; Denver hasn’t failed to go OVER the total in any of its games so far this season.

Despite a 5-0 straight up (SU) and 4-1 against the spread (ATS) record, the New Orleans Saints are a 2.5-point underdog this week on the road against the New England Patriots. The computer calculates an outright upset for the Saints with a score of 28.5 to 21.8 in New Orleans’ favor.

That would follow a historical angle that has seen the Saints go 7-1 ATS in eight meetings with the Patriots. However, it would buck the New Orleans trend as road losers (they are 3-14 SU in their last 17 qames as road underdogs). Of note, tight end Rob Gronkowski is expected to play for the first time this season, which will have a minor impact on the line.

In a more surprising upset pick by the computers, the St. Louis Rams are being given the nod as a 7.5-point underdog this Sunday on the road against the Houston Texans. St. Louis is projected to win by a score of 15 to 13.5, a score that would go well under the posted total of 41.5.

While not predicting outright upsets, the computer is projecting a few of this week’s double-digit underdogs to cover the spread in their respective road games. The Tennessee Titans are a 13-point underdog visiting the Seattle Seahawks and are projected to keep it within a touchdown with Seattle winning it 30.2 to 23.5.

The Arizona Cardinals are a 10-point underdog visiting the San Francisco 49ers, and their score is projected to be even closer with San Francisco edging out a 21.1 to 17.6 victory.

The highest projected score of the week comes in the Monday night matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and the San Diego Chargers in San Diego. The computers predict a score of 32.9 to 21.1 in Indianapolis’s favor, which would cover the small 1.5-point spread and go over the posted total of 50 points.

Quarterback Andrew Luck will be making his Monday Night Football debut in this game and the Colts are riding an 8-1 ATS streak.
