It appears Liam Lawson will take over for Sergio Perez at Red Bull next season.
Perez, who signed a contract extension in June, is now discussing whether to stay on as an ambassador or leave Red Bull altogether, ESPN said.
Perez joined Red Bull in 2021 and has won five races with the team while helping them win back-to-back constructors' championships in 2022 and 2023.
The 34-year-old Mexican driver finished on the podium four times within the first five races this season, but never reached the top three again after China in April and was the only driver among the top four teams who failed to win a race.
Perez finished eighth overall as Red Bull came in third in the constructors' standings, 77 points back of champion McLaren, despite teammate Max Verstappen winning a fourth consecutive drivers' title.
Lawson, 22, made his F1 debut last year with Red Bull's second team — then known as AlphaTauri — filling in for five races when Daniel Ricciardo was out with a broken hand. He replaced Ricciardo for the final six races this season after the 35-year-old Australian driver was dropped from the team.
Isack Hadjar, who finished runner-up in Formula 2 this year, will take Lawson's spot alongside Yuki Tsunoda on the renamed Racing Bulls team.
